Since Brexit every UK-origin car entering the EU needs a formal import declaration, an EORI reference, a T1 transit document where the route requires one, and a customs release at the port of arrival. Switzerland and Norway have their own non-EU paperwork, and the United States adds EPA and DOT requirements. All of it is handled by our customs team and itemised in your quote. It depends on where the car was built and whether you are visiting or moving. Under the UK–EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement a car of proven UK or EU origin clears at 0% duty — the V5C is the usual evidence — while a car built elsewhere and merely registered in the UK does not qualify. Destination VAT is separate: it is charged on a permanent import but not on a temporary visit. Each destination page sets out the figures for that country and names the authority they come from.
