Car shipping to the Netherlands

Enclosed, insured, customs cleared

The Netherlands is one of the shortest European routes we operate, and one of the most frequent. Door-to-door transit is typically two to four days using the Eurotunnel or a North Sea ferry. Every Dutch shipment moves under our own enclosed haulage, with the EU customs cleared on your behalf by a Dutch broker we work with weekly.

Our service to the Netherlands

The short North Sea crossing into Rotterdam or Hook of Holland — simple on a map, less simple once paperwork enters the room.

Discretion for corporate moves

Unmarked transporters and NDA on request. Many of our Dutch shipments serve corporate clients moving executive cars to Amsterdam offices, diplomatic vehicles into Wassenaar near The Hague, or private residences in Bloemendaal and the dune villages west of the capital.

Specialist enclosed haulage

The same haulage we use for Monaco and Saint-Tropez is available on the shorter North Sea routes, with an escort vehicle on request for collector cars and high-value moves. Enclosed, air-ride, climate-controlled as standard.

A decade of route experience

Named relationships with the agents at Hull, Newcastle, Felixstowe, Calais and Rotterdam. We know which sailings hold a four-vehicle covered trailer, the dwell window at Belgian motorway crossings on a Friday afternoon, and the Dutch broker procedures that decide whether a car releases the same morning.

How the Netherlands service works

How we move your car from the UK to the Netherlands

Every Dutch shipment begins with a collection from a mainland UK address you nominate, often a corporate car park, given how much of this route is executive and diplomatic traffic. Within the pre-agreed collection window the driver photographs every panel, records the fuel level and indicated mileage, and walks the documentation with you before loading, so the same record stands up at a Zuidas forecourt or a Wassenaar gatehouse at the other end.

From collection, the car travels in a single-vehicle enclosed transporter with air-ride suspension. Two routings are available and we recommend one based on the vehicle, the destination and the volume.

The road routing uses the Eurotunnel from Folkestone, then runs through Calais, Antwerp and Breda to Amsterdam in around six hours from the French coast. It usually wins for single supercars and for any vehicle bound for The Hague or Amsterdam in the shortest possible window. The sea routing uses one of two overnight ferries: Hull to Rotterdam with P&O, or Newcastle to IJmuiden (the port of Amsterdam) with DFDS. The crossing is around twelve hours, and the option suits multi-vehicle consignments, household-with-car moves and any Rotterdam-bound vehicle where the direct port arrival is the cleaner option.

Hand-over takes place at the address of your choice. A private garage at an Amsterdam canal house, the forecourt of a Zuidas corporate office, a Wassenaar residence near The Hague or a private dock at Rotterdam are all routine. We never ask a client to collect a car from a port.

The Hague, Wassenaar and Bloemendaal: diplomatic and residential moves

A material share of our Dutch volume serves the diplomatic and expat community around The Hague. Wassenaar, the wooded residential village immediately north of the city, hosts a long-standing UK expatriate population alongside diplomatic missions. The chauffeur-spec saloons and armoured vehicles that accompany those postings move on the same enclosed haulage as a private supercar. Bloemendaal, the dune village west of Amsterdam, is the equivalent on the North Holland coast. Our hand-overs there are usually to a private garage rather than a public address.

For Amsterdam itself, the most common hand-over is a corporate parking bay in the Zuidas business district or a private garage at a canal-house residence in the Grachtengordel. We also handle moves into Utrecht for clients near the central university and corporate offices, and into Maastricht in the south for clients on the Belgian and German border. For clients with a circuit event at the historic Zandvoort venue west of Amsterdam, we co-ordinate paddock-side access permits in advance.

Rotterdam as an onward route hub

Rotterdam is one of our most frequent onward route hubs in northern Europe. From the port and the surrounding logistics belt, the Dutch motorway network connects directly to the Ruhrgebiet, Hamburg and Berlin, and onward to Scandinavia via the Jutland corridor or the Øresund Bridge into Malmö. A typical multi-stop is a Dutch hand-over for a few days followed by enclosed onward haulage to a factory or residence in Germany, or a longer onward run to Stockholm and the wider Scandinavian network. The customs, the dwell time and the onward driver hours are co-ordinated as a single quote.

Dutch customs, BPM and paperwork

BPM, the Dutch private motor vehicle tax, is only triggered by permanent Dutch registration; a short stay under the relevant exemption (a business trip, a Bloemendaal summer, a Zandvoort weekend) keeps the car on UK plates with nothing due. We lodge the import declaration with a Dutch broker on arrival at Rotterdam or IJmuiden, so you never see a T1 document or stand at a quay. For how temporary admission, permanent import and the wider EU process work, see our European customs guide.

At hand-over, whether that is a canal-house garage, a Zuidas forecourt or a Wassenaar driveway, you receive the cleared customs release, the bill of lading and the inspection record, mirrored against the one taken at UK collection. The pack is emailed too, alongside a tailored quote that already includes clearance.

One driver, one car, from UK kerb to Dutch door

Each transporter is driven by one of our own contracted drivers and tracked from collection to hand-over, whether the address is a Zuidas corporate forecourt, a Wassenaar residence or a Rotterdam dock. No contact with other vehicles in transit, and an escort vehicle on request for the rarest marques.

Vehicles we ship to the Netherlands

The Dutch route is a mixed book. Amsterdam corporate moves, Wassenaar diplomatic and expat vehicles, Rotterdam onward consignments, and the occasional collector car bound for a Dutch classic event. Our supercar transport service covers a Ferrari or a Lamborghini on the same enclosed haulage as the diplomatic fleet.

We ship one-offs, household-with-car relocations and full collections. Whatever the marque, request a quote and we’ll confirm it’s in scope.

Shipping a car to the Netherlands: your questions

Shipping to the Netherlands from Europe and overseas

We collect cars elsewhere in Europe for delivery to the Netherlands as well as running UK collections. Open multi-vehicle and enclosed transport options are available to suit the car and route.

Cars coming from the US or Asia can be collected at origin and shipped to the Netherlands with onward delivery and customs arrangements. Give us the collection and delivery addresses so we can plan the complete journey.

Tell us a little about the vehicle, the collection address and whether the hand-over is in Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam or an onward European destination. A specialist will price the move and come back to you, normally that day.
